You can start Daphne at any time. Just refrain from having unprotected sex during the first seven days.

Start with the pill marked with the correct day of the week and follow the arrows as indicated on the pack. It is crucial that you take your pills at the same time each day, as progestin-only pills are much stricter about your timing than combination-type pills. Please ensure, at the very least, that you take your pill within the same three-hour window. If you take the pill outside of that three hour window, refrain from unprotected sex for the next 48 hours.

Start a new pack the day after finishing your previous one, without any break in between.

If you decide to stop taking the pill, only stop after you finish your pack otherwise bleeding may start.

Either of those things can interfere with the absorption of your pill. If you vomit within two hours of taking the pill, another pill should be taken as soon as possible. If persistent vomiting and diarrhea last more than 24 hours, follow the instructions on missed pills.

Regularly taking the pill is crucial because the efficacy of Daphne is reduced if you are delayed by more than three hours. If the pill is less than three hours overdue, take it as soon as you remember and resume taking the next scheduled pill at your regular time. In this scenario, you won't need a backup contraceptive method.

• Porphyria
• Severe arterial disease
• Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
• Hormone-dependent neoplasms
• severe liver disease such as hepatic adenoma
• After recent evacuation of a hydatidiform mole

• Asthma
• Diabetes Mellitus
• Epilepsy
• Heart disease
• Hypertension
• Thromboembolic disorders
• History of depression
• Past ectopic pregnancy
• Functional ovarian cysts
• Malabsorption syndromes
• Migraine
• Renal impairment
• Liver dysfunction including cholestatic jaundice or a history of jaundice in pregnancy
• Other conditions that may be aggravated by fluid retention

No serious ill effects have been reported, even with accidental overdose. You may experience mild side effects such as headaches, fluid retention, tender/sore breasts, altered moods, changes in appetite, and abdominal cramps. Don't worry, though! These side effects are temporary and should subside within the first three months.

Severe side effects:
While unlikely, always consult with a doctor if your symptoms become intolerable. If you experience the following, please contact your doctor or go to an emergency room immediately:
• Severe abdominal pain
• Chest pain
• Severe headaches
• Eye problems (blurred vision)
• Swelling or aching in the legs and thighs

• Taking Daphne with drugs that induce hepatic enzyme activity (such as carbamazepine, griseofulvin, modafinil, nelfinavir, nevirapine, oxcarbazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone, ritonavir, St. John's Wort, topiramate, rifabutin, and rifampicin) may reduce the contraceptive efficacy. Women taking a short course of enzyme-inducing drugs should have contraceptive precautions while taking oral contraceptive pills and for four weeks after completing the medication. If you are required to take a long-term course of an enzyme-inducing drug, using another contraceptive method is encouraged.

• Taking Daphne with aprepitant and bosentan can result in a possible contraceptive failure.

• Taking Daphne with amprenavir, sitaxentan, atorvastatin, and tacrolimus may increase the incidence of side effects.

• Taking Daphne with rufinamide can decrease the contraceptive efficacy.

• Daphne may enhance or reduce anticoagulant effects of coumarins, can increase clearance of some analgesics (such as paracetamol and morphine), can antagonize hypoglycemic effects of antidiabetics, and can antagonize anticoagulant effects of phenidione.

• Daphne can increase the plasma concentration of ciclosporin, selegiline, and possibly tizanidine and increase the risk of toxicity.

• Daphne can reduce the plasma concentration of lamotrigine.
